Account deletion is different from signing out, temporarily disabling access or making an account inactive. When a valid deletion request is completed, SwiftRide will permanently close the account and delete associated personal information that is no longer required to be retained.
Account deletion overview
SwiftRide supports separate Rider and Driver experiences, but both account types will have a clear pathway to request permanent account deletion.
The deletion process is intended to close the account, remove personal information that no longer needs to be retained, and prevent the deleted account from continuing to be used as an active SwiftRide account.
Some limited records may need to remain where SwiftRide has a legitimate or legal reason to retain them. Those situations are explained below and in the Privacy Policy.
How to delete your account
SwiftRide supports permanent account-deletion requests for Rider and Driver accounts through SwiftRide Support. The in-app paths below apply when deletion controls are available in the Rider or Driver app.
Rider app
Driver app
SwiftRide will also provide an external account-deletion request pathway on this website so that a person can request deletion even when they no longer have access to the mobile app.
If you cannot use the deletion controls in the Rider or Driver app, you can request permanent account deletion directly through SwiftRide Support.
Account verification
Before deleting an account, SwiftRide may take reasonable steps to verify that the person making the request is authorized to control that account.
Verification helps prevent another person from fraudulently requesting deletion of someone else's Rider or Driver account.
The verification required should be proportionate to the account and request. SwiftRide should not ask for information that is unnecessary simply to make deletion more difficult.
What is deleted
Once a valid deletion request is completed, SwiftRide will delete personal information associated with the account that is no longer reasonably required.
Depending on the account and how SwiftRide was used, this may include:
- profile and account information that is no longer required;
- authentication information associated only with the deleted account;
- stored preferences and account settings;
- personal information contained in active account records that no longer has a legitimate retention purpose; and
- other account-linked information that SwiftRide is not required or permitted to retain.
Closing or freezing an account without processing the associated deletion request is not treated as permanent account deletion.
What may be retained
Account deletion does not always mean that every record connected to the account must disappear immediately.
SwiftRide may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for legitimate purposes permitted by applicable law, including:
- fraud prevention and platform security;
- investigation of safety incidents or abuse;
- unresolved disputes or support cases;
- financial, accounting or transaction records that must be retained;
- compliance with lawful requests or legal obligations; and
- establishing, exercising or defending legal rights where applicable.
Information retained for one of these purposes should not continue to be used as though the person's SwiftRide account were still active.
Driver accounts
Driver accounts can contain additional operational information compared with Rider accounts, including vehicle details, verification information, submitted documents and records related to completed ride activity.
Deleting a Driver account will remove Driver-specific personal information that SwiftRide no longer needs to retain.
Certain Driver records may need to remain for a limited period where they are connected to completed trips, disputes, financial records, safety investigations, fraud prevention, regulatory requirements or other legitimate purposes.
Permanent account deletion also ends the Driver's ability to use that deleted account to become available, receive trip requests or perform Driver activity through SwiftRide.
Before you delete
Before submitting an account-deletion request, users should consider whether there is an unfinished matter connected to the account.
For example, SwiftRide may need an active support process where there is:
- an active or incomplete ride;
- an unresolved trip or safety report;
- an unresolved payment or financial matter;
- an active Driver verification issue; or
- another matter that reasonably needs to be resolved before deletion can be completed.
These circumstances should not be used to prevent deletion indefinitely. Where a matter must be resolved first, SwiftRide should explain the required next step.
What happens afterward
After permanent deletion is completed, the deleted account can no longer be used to sign in to SwiftRide.
Account settings, active account access and other information removed as part of deletion cannot simply be restored by signing back in.
If a person later wishes to use SwiftRide again, they may need to create a new account and complete any requirements that apply at that time.
A Driver returning after deletion may also need to complete current Driver onboarding, verification and vehicle requirements again.
